How this works
- Add your rooms in the calculator above so the tool knows how many boxes each room needs.
- The label maker creates one label per box, auto-numbered per room as Box X of N.
- Kitchen and bathroom boxes with day-one items are flagged OPEN FIRST; rooms packed with breakables are flagged FRAGILE.
- Choose 2 or 3 labels per row, then click Print labels to send the sheet to your printer.
- Write the contents on the blank line, then tape one label to the top and one to a side of each box.
Packing tips
- Tape a label to the top and to one side of every box — you can read the side when boxes are stacked and you can't see the tops.
- Fill in the contents line before you seal a box, not after. It takes ten seconds and saves you reopening it later to check.
- Give each room its own destination sign at the new place (Kitchen, Main Bedroom) so movers can match a box's room label to a doorway without asking.
- The box number tells you if anything went missing — if Box 7 of 12 never made it off the truck, you'll know before the movers drive away.
- Print a few extra blank labels for boxes you pack last-minute, and keep a marker with the tape gun so labeling never stalls the packing.
- Circle or star the OPEN FIRST boxes and load them last so they come off the truck first — kettle, phone chargers, toilet paper, and a box cutter.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special label paper or sticker sheets?
No. The labels are designed to print on ordinary letter-size paper, which keeps this free. Cut them out and attach with clear packing tape, or run them through a home printer onto full-sheet sticker paper if you happen to have some.
Where do the box numbers and FRAGILE flags come from?
They're generated from the rooms you add in the calculator. Each box is numbered within its room as Box X of N. FRAGILE is applied automatically to rooms that include dish, picture, mirror, or TV boxes, and OPEN FIRST goes on the first kitchen and bathroom box for your day-one essentials.
Can I write my own notes on each label?
Yes. Every label has a blank Contents line you fill in by hand after printing. The tool sets the room, number, and flags for you; you add the specifics like "pots and pans" or "winter coats" so nothing is a mystery on the other end.
How many labels fit on a page?
You choose 2 or 3 per row before printing. Two per row gives you larger labels that are easy to read across a room; three per row fits more on each sheet to save paper. Pick whichever suits your handwriting and stack height.
Will the same box numbers come back if I reload the page?
Yes. The numbering is deterministic, so the same set of rooms always produces the same labels in the same order. If you close the tab and come back, or reprint later, Box 5 of 10 in the bedroom stays Box 5 of 10.
Is this different from just writing on the box with a marker?
It's faster and more consistent. Marker works fine, but printed labels give you clean room names, sequential numbers, and bold FRAGILE and OPEN FIRST flags at a glance — which helps movers and helps you confirm every numbered box arrived.
